In loving memory of Brother Bernard Hogan, a cherished soul born on September 24, 1975, in Omaha, Nebraska. He embarked on his educational journey at Omaha Northwest High School, graduating in 1993, and pursued a Communications Major at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
During his time at UNO, Bernard exemplified extraordinary leadership, serving as Chapter President and Vice President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., as well as NPHC Chapter President and Vice President. His dedication extended to the UNO student government council during his freshman and sophomore years, along with active participation in various panels and student focus groups.
Tragically, Brother Hogan transitioned to The Omega Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. during the summer after his junior year, on July 5, 1996, following an acute asthma attack that led to heart failure. His passing deeply grieved his beloved mother, Ms. Mae Hogan, who has since relocated to Phebe, MS, her childhood home, carrying the weight of losing her only son.
Bernard’s commitment and financial support to the Fraternity were unparalleled. He was a beacon of reliability, always willing to lend a helping hand, not just to Sigma, but to anyone in need, day or night. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit and legacy continue to inspire and resonate within our hearts.
